The Summer Recreation Program in a new program to provide summer recreation activities to individuals in the Labrador Straits Area. It is a partnership with the SLDA and the Labrador Straits Regional Recreation Committee. Jada Normore was hired as the Recreation Coordinator. She has been organizing and overseeing activities at the Labrador Straits Regional Arena. We have already had 4 weeks of recreational acitivites and we believe that we now have a program that better suits the registered participants and those participants that were not able to register for the whole summer session. The Summer Recreation Program is a 'pilot project,' and we are learning as we progress. Your understanding is greatly appreciated.
On recommendation, we have also opened up the programming to drop-ins, meaning that even if a child is not registered in the program they can now join any of the advertised activities by filing out a registration form and paying a $5 fee per activity.
On August 4th, the Program hosted a 'Bike Rodeo'. The Rodeo was a new event for the region and well attended. You can see photos from this event in the Gallery.
We are now into Week 5 of an 8 Week Program.
